David O’Neill, JD, CWM®
Wealth Advisor
Dave transitioned from a successful legal career, serving as Assistant General Counsel for Verizon, to being a fiduciary wealth advisor, where he employs his refined analytical skills to help clients realize their financial and life aspirations. Dave guides pre-retirees and retirees through the complexities of retirement planning, helping clients make informed financial decisions to ensure a secure and comfortable retirement.
He focuses on tax planning to maximize pre-retirement savings, Roth Conversions, Social Security, retirement income, and managing capital gains taxes. Dave enjoys helping charitably minded clients maximize their giving impact with Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs), and appreciated asset donations.
Dave enjoys diverse interests - programming computers in the 1970s, starting an internet company in the 1990s, earning a B.S. in electrical engineering from R.I.T. and a J.D. from Georgetown along the way. As a fiduciary wealth advisor, he helps retirement-age clients achieve their goals and dreams with the skills it took to succeed at these pursuits—diligence, analysis, and a big-picture view. He feels at his best when he can lift people up and encourage them to make wise decisions about their future.
Dave and his wife, Alane, live in Gainesville with their two daughters, Katie and Ellie. They all enjoy the outdoors and have a passion for service, including church leadership, youth sports, and volunteer organizations. Dave has a passion for meditation and enjoys reading. His favorite books include Ed Diener’s Happiness: Unlocking the Mysteries of Psychological Wealth and Jonathan Haidt’s The Happiness Hypothesis.
